Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s ex-girlfriend says she was afraid he would kill her

Cited as a witness by the defense of the British newspaper, which Johnny Depp is suing for defamation for having qualified him in April 2018 as an abusive husband, the 34-year-old actress accused her ex-husband of having subjected him to verbal and physical assault, threats and intimidation.

During this trial, which entered its third – and normally last – week before the High Court in London, the British tabloid invokes in its defense 14 incidents where Johnny Depp would have been violent towards his wife. The 57-year-old actor vigorously disputes these accusations, and claims that it was she who was violent towards him.

Some of these episodes were “so bad that I was afraid he would kill me, either intentionally or by losing control,” “going too far,” Amber Heard said in her written testimony.

The couple divorced in 2017 after 15 months of a stormy marriage. In the divorce proceedings, Amber Heard had withdrawn his complaint for violence and Johnny Depp had paid him seven million dollars (6.11 million euros), which the actress had paid to associations.

Asked by the actor’s lawyer, Eleanor Laws, Amber Heard confirmed that she suffered regular and repeated physical violence from the actor.
“He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially at the end of our relationship,” she says in her written testimony.

“Cuts on the arms”

For example, she referred to an argument that arose in 2015 “in a hotel room in Tokyo” about a potential pre-nuptial agreement, “in which Johnny ended up sitting on my back and me. hit on the back of the head “.

During this argument, “he said he didn’t want this, that he trusted me and that, as he often told me, the only way out (of this marriage) would be death”, added the 34-year-old actress.

She also believed to have been “held hostage for three days” when she had visited the actor in Australia, during a break on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

In an “isolated house 20 minutes from any help”, Heard says she was trapped, “unable to leave”, with “a violent and manic-depressive person, suffering from bipolar disorder and drug-induced psychosis”, that Johnny Depp would have consumed – with alcohol – “several times a day”.
“It was the worst thing I have ever experienced. I had injuries to my nose and lips, I had cuts on my arms,” said the “Aquaman” and “The Danish Girl” actress. “, adding that Mr. Depp, plagued by” paranoid hallucinations “, had also urinated in front of other people and hid raw meat in a cupboard.

According to her, he placed responsibility for his actions on what he called “the monster”, “rather than on himself”. “He spoke about it as if it was another person or another personality and not him who was doing all these things,” she said in her written testimony, where she accuses Johnny Depp of victimizing himself.

She says that Johnny Depp’s entourage tried to convince her to “stay or come back” after these “episodes of violence”. She stayed, she says, in the hope of helping the actor to shake off his addictions.
