The end of the high heat promises to be brutal. Meteo France issued a amber alert to thunderstorms for the night of Wednesday August 23 to Thursday August 24, 2023. She should run all morning, before being demoted on yellow alert at 14 hours.

Stormy rains and gusts

During the night, the disturbance should reach Île-de-France, causing thunderstorms in contact with very hot air. “Tonight’s stormy rains can be locally intense,” warns Meteo France who believes that 20 mm to 30 mm of rain could fall in a few hours, as well as hail locally. Local gusts of wind up to 80 km / h or even 90/100 km / h could also fall.

In all, 25 departments are placed on orange storm alert for Thursday. These storms should mark the end of the heat episode that had been falling since the start of the week in Île-de-France. From Thursday, temperatures should drop and will no longer reach 30 degrees. They will become mild again on Friday, with highs at 23 degrees.
