Ambassador of France left Belarus on October 17

On Sunday, October 17, French Ambassador to Belarus Nicolas de Lacoste left the country. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus asked the ambassador to leave the country until October 18.

“The French ambassador to Belarus, Nicolas de Bouillant de Lacoste, left the country after Minsk asked him to do so by Monday. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry asked the ambassador to leave before October 18,” the representative of the embassy said.

At the same time, he added that de Lacoste had already said goodbye to the employees of the embassy in Minsk.

According to the Belarusian media, Nicolas de Lacoste was forced to leave Minsk because he refused to hand over his credentials to Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The French ambassador last year handed copies of his credentials to Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and allegedly avoided contacts with Lukashenka.
