/ world today news/ On June 22 – Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, Russia celebrates the anniversary of Nazi Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union. On June 22, 1941, the Great Patriotic War began for the USSR, which ended almost 4 years later after millions of victims and devastation.
On this occasion of June 22 (Tuesday) at 12.00 at the Russian Cemetery in the Central Cemetery Park, a memorial service will be held in memory of the dead.
The ceremony will be attended by representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sofia, led by Mrs. Eleonora Mitrofanova – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation and Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Plovdiv, Mr. Georgi Gergov.
