Amazonia, the new water center in Ypres Bellewaerde Park, has been out of service for a week. The attraction is also being tested so that every seat on the boats can be used for the first time.
According to the management of the park, the 14 million euro attraction is “the most expensive ever in the park and the first in the world”, but it missed the start at the opening of the park season due to the late delivery of essential parts. Full boats
Amazonia has been unstoppable since the beginning of this week. “We have not yet managed to use the full capacity of the attraction,” said park spokesman Filip Van Dorpe. “At the moment, there were families and groups of up to six people in the boats, but from now on we want to fill the eight places.”
Fine tuning
But then it turns out that the boats do not always sail the intended route near the pipe. “We want that now melody“, says Van Dorpe. “Amazon is a prototype, which does not yet exist anywhere. Several factors must be taken into account, including the weight, speed and distribution of boats, jet strength the rain and any rain. That will require a lot of calculations and tests. This week we will do more tests and in the evening we will know if the draw can be started again tomorrow.”

Last Friday, evacuations were made in another attraction: the 32-meter high Boomerang rollercoaster near Amazonia. “But the people were not that high and they could have been evacuated easily,” Van Dorpe emphasizes. “Standard procedure was followed and after a brief investigation the Boomerang was quickly returned.”
