Amazon series ‘The Lord of the Rings’ brings back famous ones

Howard Shore, the composer of Peter Jacksons The Lord of the Ringstrilogy, is in negotiations to return for Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming television series.

It’s no surprise that Amazon is trying to get Shore on board. His musical contributions to Jackson’s films were an important part of what made them successful. Just look at the three Oscars he won for his work on this trilogy. Shore later also provided the music for the The Hobbit-films.

So it’s now starting to look like Shore is returning to the fantasy world of JRR Tolkien. Deadline reports that the composer is in talks to compose the music for the upcoming prequel series.

The first season of The Lord of the Rings, which reportedly cost a record-breaking $465 million to make, will be available on Prime Video from September 2, 2022.

Since the television series seems to share little DNA with Jackson’s films, bringing Shore back is a great way to get fans of the films on board. In addition, Amazon had to do something, now that production of the series is being moved from New Zealand to the United Kingdom.
