Prime Day, the annual bargain festival of Amazon, may start on October 13 this year. For a moment it was feared that the two-day, with high discounts and exclusive deals, would not take place at all due to the corona crisis, but now there seems to be a date.
Holidays canceled
Amazon warehouse employees who had requested vacation on October 13 and the days after – up to and including October 20, are suddenly called backCNET discovered. Something big has to happen on that data at the retail platform, and according to the news site, that can be almost nothing else than the annual Amazon Prime Day.
The online retailer’s bargain festival normally takes place every July, but the corona crisis made it postponed to a date to be determined. Since then, however, it has remained silent for so long that the question arose whether the shopping event would still take place. After all, Amazon organized one at the end of June clothing sale as an alternative and at the beginning of August, Prime Day already took place exclusively in India.
Strategic period
Now a date would have been set, although the news is not yet confirmed by Amazon. The company previously only wanted to say that the bargain marathon was about to happen in the fourth quarter this year. Retail watchers mention the leaked data, however plausible, because the largest corona pressure is now behind us and the end of the year period is already approaching.
Amazon Prime Day could be a preview for Black Friday and Cyber Monday a little later, although many American retailers doubt whether they want to participate in these corona times. In addition, it is a good time for Amazon to speak up again, because it went early this month the all-new Prime rival Walmart+ started.
It is striking that the starting day this time would be a Tuesday. In previous years, the online event always started on a Monday and then lasted for 48 hours. It is also quick to arrange the necessary product deals and advertising within three weeks.
