Amazon announced its intention to hire 250,000 employees in the upcoming holiday season, compared to 200,000 employees in the same period last year.
Wages range from $17 to $28 per hour, while bonuses can reach $3,000. These numbers come amid a labor shortage that the company is witnessing after it laid off 18,000 employees at the beginning of the year. Amazon is the second largest private employer in the United States, after Walmart.
The number of Amazon employees reached 1.46 million people globally at the end of last June, and most of them work in the logistics department and warehouses that store and package products.
