Bloomberg reports that Amazon went on a substantial fine by the EU for violating the GDPR rules. The fine ended up at 746 million euros, which corresponds to approximately 7.6 billion kronor, which is quite a lot of money. The fine is the result of a complaint from 2018 from the French privacy law group La Quadrature du Net, which carried out some lawsuits against various internet giants shortly after the GDPR was introduced that year.
Unexpectedly, Amazon considers the fine, issued by the Luxembourg National Commission for Data Protection, to be incorrect and will appeal.
