Nowadays, is it a kind of trend that developers are also navigating from Ubisoft to Amazon Games, for example?
Just think about it: Haven Studios, under the direction of Jade Raymond, just took over his former colleagues from the French publisher; we wrote yesterday about a new studio (though it’s in Quebec instead of Montreal) that will deal with AAA RPGs without an open world, and now here’s Amazon Games ’plan, which also underscores that every trip to Montreal leads the gaming industry…
The Amazon announcedthat they have launched a brand new job posting in the Canadian province of Quebec, including Montreal. areled by Alexandre Parizeau. He spent several years behind the gates of Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto: he was the producer of Rainbow Six: Vegas, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and later was also the manager of several well-known games (Rainbow Six: Siege, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Watch_Dogs 2, Far Cry: Primal, For Honor, Starlink: Battle for Atlas, Far Cry 5, Watch Dogs: Legion).
Christoph Hartmann, vice president of Amazon Games, said Parizeau’s career so far has shown he can build talented teams and successful games and is the perfect choice for what they want to create in the new studio. Ubisoft also managed the development teams behind the big franchises in his two Canadian studios and was immediately tied to Amazon’s ideas and creative executives, several of whom had already worked for Ubisoft. Hartmann says Parizeau will be putting together a great team in Montreal and can’t wait to tell more about what’s going on here at the right time.
Parizeau, who became the head of the studio, added that when he first met the team, his idea (of a brand new multiplayer experience) had a fascinating and compelling impact on him. You feel lucky to be able to join such a great group in creating a new studio. Enjoying the trust and support of Amazon Games, they have an exceptional opportunity to innovate and a to push the boundaries of multiplayer.
Several members of the team have previously worked on Rainbow Six: Siege, while Amazon Games ’press release reveals that many projects are underway (e.g. Amazon Games San Diego is also working on something; led by ex-Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley ).
