With the COVID-19 health crisis, Amazon is facing an increasing number of orders. This influx forces the online business giant to concentrate its resources and prioritize important products, in particular in order to more easily implement the rules of social distance in its warehouses.
In email to third-party sellers, Amazon says it will no longer accept orders on less essential products. This decision is valid for both Amazon products and products shipped by Amazon.
In its communication, the company insists on the temporary side of this announcement which concerns its French and Italian shops. In the middle of the week, Amazon had announced a similar decision for the American market.
If Jeff Bezos’s firm does not go into detail, it says it wants to focus ” on the most important products, such as commodities, medical equipment or other products whose demand is increasing ” The scope of the products concerned will be constantly reassessed. Finally, Amazon specifies that orders already placed will be fulfilled.
For third-party merchants who are not specialized in this type of goods, obviously the situation looks very difficult: they will have on their hands pallets of products that they will not be able to sell immediately.
