Not competing with the established order?
I really think differently about that.
Amazon certainly gives competitive prices, when I need something, it is often Amazon that has the lowest price.
Ok, sometimes there are very exceptional outliers, such as this iPad for €170 below the recommended retail price, but are usually slightly cheaper than, for example, a Bol.com.
It differs greatly per product group, garden supplies, tools and cleaning products are often a lot cheaper, PC hardware almost never and often more expensive.
Furthermore, for me it is often the faster alternative from AliExpress. Many products from AliExpress are also available on Amazon, of course more expensive, but with a delivery time of 1 to 2 days instead of months.
When I see how many Amazon packages are at the collection point, especially compared to the bol.com boxes that are there, they are now doing quite well in the Netherlands.
