Amazon employees to demonstrate on Black Friday | Tech

According to the union, wages, working hours and other working conditions are lousy at Amazon. In addition, the workload is ‘gigantic’, according to FNV.

There is no strike in the Netherlands, but in countries such as France and Italy. Demonstrations are also taking place in the United States, India and the United Kingdom. The company has about 1.3 million employees worldwide.

FNV will protest Friday at the shipyard in Alblasserdam where the sailing yacht of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is being built. “Bezos has amassed his enormous wealth thanks to, but especially at the expense of his employees,” says FNV director Michiel Al. “For us, this boat is a symbol of Amazon’s ruthless growth.”

Black Friday is an American phenomenon that takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving. The bargain fest has also been known outside the US for several years. Retailers lure customers to their store with competitive offers. Amazon also has a discount on products during Black Friday every year.
