Amazon Employee Complaints, Time to Go to the Toilet Only Counts

Jakarta

Amazon not only facing layoffs and strikes. Their employees in the UK complain of inhumane working conditions.

As reported by the BBC, as reported on Sunday (29/1/2023) Amazon warehouse employees in Coventry, England claim they work almost without taking a break to the toilet. Employees at Coventry are part of a strike in England.

Two Amazon employees said they were only given a few minutes to go to the toilet. Even the robots in their warehouse are treated better.

“We are always asked why we stopped doing work. So if they stop doing activities for a few minutes, they can see it in the system,” said Garfield Hilton, an employee.

Hilton is a diabetic. From the big warehouse to the toilet it takes 15 minutes to walk.

“They will ask, where have I been?” complained Hilton.

In addition, performance and uptime are tracked. You are considered to be working when you are at the work post and logged in to do the work.

Reuters reports that 178 of the 2,000 warehouse employees are taking part in the strike action which is again common in Britain. In the Land of King Charles III, Amazon has 75,000 employees.
