Amazon: drivers have to take care of the bottles

Amazon representatives apologized for their tweet in which they refuted the allegations that the working conditions of their drivers were terrible. American politician Mark Pocan previously described a story in which he pointed out that drivers have to take care of the bottles while working. However, after journalists intervened, Amazon admitted that such situations did happen.

At the end of March, Pocan wrote a story on his Twitter profile that drivers hired by Amazon had to go to the bottles during work due to lack of time. “You don’t believe our employees really have to handle the bottles, do you? If that were true, nobody would want to work for us, ”replied the company’s representatives, trying to fight off the wave of negative comments that appeared after the publication of the politician.

A day later it turned out that Amazon’s representatives had made a big mistake in responding to the allegations. Journalists decided to look at the matter VICEwho reached the drivers, who showed reporters the bottles that are used for sanitary needs. The article featured not only photos of the aforementioned bottles, but also statements of drivers who confirmed what the realities of their work really look like.

Following the publication of the article on VICE, Amazon again referred to its earlier post in which the company denied reports of the bottles.

“It was a mistake,” we read on Amazon’s website. “We didn’t realize it was about the drivers. We felt that Mr. Pocan was referring to the situation in our warehouses. The problem is partly caused by the coronavirus pandemic – most public toilets are closed at the time, the company explains. The official statement states that the company will do everything to solve this problem, although it admits that it does not have a specific idea for it yet.
