While Elon Musk got to space with his cars, the Internet giant Amazon only decided to test an unmanned vehicle.
For example, Amazon-owned autonomous vehicle company Zoox said its self-driving car (which looks a lot like a huge toaster) has been approved by authorities to drive on public roads with passengers in California.
About it writes The Verge.
The Zoox Robotaxi is reportedly equipped with six LiDAR sensors located on top of the vehicle. They are combined with various radar sensors and cameras. In total, this is a field of view of 270 degrees at each corner. Thus, blind spots are eliminated and redundancy is provided in case of failure of any of the sensors.
In addition, the sensors allow you to see another vehicle at a distance of up to 150 meters. The car is powered by a battery with a capacity of 133 kWh, and the maximum speed reaches 56 km/h.
During the tests, the robotaxi demonstrated the ability to perform left, right and bidirectional turns, as well as to maneuver between cyclists, pedestrians, vehicles and other road users on its route.
Although the Zoox Robotaxi has been approved by the authorities, it is not yet capable of driving on all roads and is currently only used to transport employees between two office buildings located about two kilometers apart.
Earlier it was reported that the “life hack with rice” is quite applicable to electric vehicles – the drowned Tesla can be restored to working condition even after its “big voyage” during the floods.
