Pillars of Creationpillar of creation is an area rich in star-forming material, located in the Eagle Nebula, about 6,000 light-years from Planet Earth. In the form of tendrils of gas and dust, colored by the irradiation of the young stars within it.
In 1995, the Hubble telescope captured the area and the results were astonishing, making it one of the most iconic NASA photos of all time due to its appearance. Now it’s the turn James WebbNASA’s most advanced and expensive telescope photographed the area and the results were certainly much clearer and more impressive.
As quoted by the BBC’s detikINET, James Webb recently shot twice. The first is a near infrared camera (NIRCam) and the second is a medium infrared (MIRI) instrument.
The photo looks like the ghostly shadows of the distant universe. The pillars are located at the center of the Eagle Nebula, which has always been the subject of intense studies by scientists, especially to investigate how stars are born.
According to NASA, the Pillars of Creation are about 5 light years long. It is a natural star incubator, supported by its dense hydrogen gas content. As the stars at the ends of the tendrils expand, the radiation becomes stronger and slowly destroys the gas around them.
“This structure is the most photogenic,” say the researchers as to why the photo looks so stunning.
“We took pillar of creation it is in a truly unique moment in its evolution. The pillars represent a very dynamic and active process, ”said Paul Scowen of Arizona State University, who also conducted research in the area.
