The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, reports have emerged of a new variant of the Hendra virus and a new case of monkeypox. The two have recently become a hot topic of conversation in cyberspace.
Regarding the emergence of the topic of the diseases being discussed, Dr. Fedri Ruluwedrata Rinawan, PhD, from the Department of Public Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Padjadjaran, conveyed an appeal to the public, health authorities, and the government.
According to him, in researching the disease the most important thing is to first identify the character of the disease. After knowing the characteristics, we can proceed to decide on the appropriate treatment and policy.
“Regarding whatever the disease is, it is better to know first what the character is like, the character from the cell. Is it a virus, bacteria, or so on. Then it is identified to handling and afterward policies,” said Dr. Fedri at detik.com, Thursday (19/5/2022) .
Meanwhile, according to him, in the future policy, the government can apply protection on a Micro, Meso, and Macro basis.
“The policy will follow the government whether the scale will be Macro, Meso, and Micro. Macro for example closing access in and out at an airport, Meso for example locking a city, or Micro such as in homes continuing to carry out health protocols. This will be decided by the government after it is known characteristics and handling,” he explained.
