Amazing Komika Malaysia Accused of Harassment of Islam, Opens Hijab when Performing

One comic A woman from Malaysia is accused of harassing Islam because of her appearance on the stand-up comedy stage. His actions also led to him being reported to the local police until investigated by The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI).

The comic whose full name is Siti Amira bint Abdullah claimed to be from Kuala Kangsar, Perak. In a viral cut, he is known to appear in a comedy club called Crack House Comedy Club.

Initially, Siti Amira wore a long Muslim dress with a brown blouse and skirt. Complete with a hijab of the same color.

When holding the mic, he said he was a Muslim from Malaysia.

“I am a Malaysian Muslim and I memorized 15 verses of the Qur’an, but wait a minute,” said Siti Amira.

Not long after, she took off her hijab, then the brown blouse and only the black tank top remained. The long skirt was removed so that the mini skirt was just above the knee.

His performance was greeted with applause from the audience. There was also laughter in the audience.

Siti Amira continues her joke. But from the cut of the video scene that became viral in cyberspace all the way to Indonesia.

Malaysian netizens ridiculed the comedian’s appearance and accused him of insulting Islam. Reportedly, Siti Amira’s actions were reported to the local police.

The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) conducted an investigation into the video and the comic act.

The director of JAWI, Datuk Mohd Ajib Ismail, said his agency recorded the viral video and an initial investigation had been carried out.

“Under Section 7 of the Sharia (Federal Territory) Criminal Offenses Act 1997 (UU 559), relating to insulting or causing insult to Islam, is an offense, and can be fined a maximum of 3,000 Malaysian ringgit or imprisoned for not more than two years, or both if found guilty,” Ismail told Bernama, quoted by the New Straits Times

According to Saaduddin, the comedian is suspected of violating Article 298A of the Malaysian Criminal Code because it causes disharmony, division or hostility, hatred, or bad intentions, or is detrimental to the maintenance of harmony or unity on the basis of religion.
