Amazing aaPRP therapy for Covid-19, what is the mechanism?

Suara.com – During the pandemic Covid-19, various therapies appear and are claimed to be able to prevent or cure. Lately, in Indonesia, there is a lot of discussion about aaPRP therapy (autologus activated platelet-rich plasma) as Covid-19 therapy.

The aaPRP therapy itself was introduced by doctor Karina F Moegni, SpBP, a graduate of the University of Indonesia (UI). What exactly is aaPRP therapy?

AaPRP therapy itself is a protein concentrate from human platelets. According to Karina’s explanation, this therapy was initially made in the patient’s blood taken as much as 20-25 cc. Then, the platelets from the blood of Covid-19 patients are separated.

Blood platelets from the separation in the labiratoium are then taken for protein which is then put back into the patient’s body through intravenous fluids. This whole process takes about 2 to 3 hours. These platelets are called helping therapy for Covid-19.

This therapy seems to have the support of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises for the period October 2011-October 2014, Dahlan Iskan. He wrote this support in his official blog.

“aaPRP will treat Covid because the contents of the platelets contain anti-inflammatory proteins, bacteria, and new cell growth proteins, that’s what Karina said that platelets are like a big pharmacy. It provides any kind of medicine for our bodies,” Iskan noted in his official blog which titled Karina’s Struggle.

The PRP method is actually not new, because previously it had also been used in various beauty fields, such as treating skin wrinkles, baldness, and removing acne scars.

Although supported by Iskan, experts advise not to rush to overclaim aaPRP therapy. According to experts, the claims for the efficacy of aaPRP therapy should not be published to the public before being proven to be valid.
