Amanda Lind has been chosen as the new spokesperson for the Green Party.
It was announced during the party’s extra congress on Sunday.
– Together we have a big and important task. Politics needs more hope, she says in a speech.
In February, Märta Stenevi announced that she would leave the position as spokesperson due to health reasons, among other things. After that, the process of choosing a new female leader for the party began.
Ahead of the Green Party’s extra congress on Sunday, Amanda Lind was the only remaining candidate and at 1pm the announcement came that she would take over from Stenevi.
– The green and fair transition is the great social transformation of our time and it is we in the Green Party who must lead it, says Amanda Lind in her acceptance speech.
But she also directed criticism at the current government.
– Today, Sweden is ruled by a government that is failing in the face of several of the great challenges of our time. Which increases emissions, in the middle of the climate crisis. Which makes it harder for people who want to be part of the solution.

Congratulations from colleagues
She is now being congratulated, among others, by Märta Stenevi in a post on Instagram:
“With courage and strength, you have navigated past roles, and now I am so happy to now call you my mouthpiece – just as I am happy to call you my friend. I look forward to following your unfailing green compass and I know that your big heart for the vulnerable in our society will make the Green Party a strong voice for climate and justice.”
Even the Social Democrats’ party leader, Magdalena Andersson, welcomes Lind as a new mouthpiece.
“I know Amanda as a straightforward person. She is a skilled politician with great commitment to the environment and democracy’s opportunities to work in the big and the small. Looking forward to good cooperation!”, she signs X.
