George Clooney spoke with his good friend and colleague Brad Pitt in a new interview with the magazine “GQ” about, among other things, the pitfalls of fame. The actor also made clear his concern for his children Ella and Alexander.
Unlike other celebrity couples, Amal, 46, and George Clooney, 63, is extremely reserved when it comes to their seven-year-old twins Ella and Alexander. The couple try everything to avoid photos of their offspring in the press and protect them wherever they can. Nevertheless, the actor is afraid for their safety, as he reveals in a new “GQ” interview with his “Wolf” co-star Brad Pitt, 60.
George Clooney on the pitfalls of fame
The 63-year-old talks openly about what it’s like to live with this level of fame and admits that it’s hard not to be idolized when you’re in the public eye. Nevertheless, he believes that Brad has often had it worse. “A lot of people – even those who have reached a fairly high level of fame – find a way to live a normal life, to walk the streets of New York without being followed and so on,” says George Clooney, before going on to explain: “And there are, I don’t know, five or six of us for whom it just never let up. […].”

Since his wife, in particular, is a human rights lawyer and does a lot of humanitarian work, he did everything he could to give his children a life without media persecution. “My goal is to protect my children, I don’t want to see pictures of them,” Clooney explains, stressing: “We are dealing with very serious issues, with very serious villains, and we don’t want photos of our children to be published. So we have to work hard to remain private, and that is difficult, as you can imagine.”

“I don’t want to lose all this”
In the interview, George Clooney also reveals that he wants to focus more on acting than directing to give his children the opportunity to homeschool. “The main reason is that I’m away for a year directing and my kids are at a certain age now,” he explains. “We’re not going to pull our kids out of school and let them run around. Before, they could just come along and we’d all go. But that’s different now.”

Until his Broadway debut next year with the adaptation of “Good Night, and Good Luck,” he is trying to devote as much time as possible to his children and his wife, before he has to move to New York for a few months. “I’m not going to do anything else. I’m going to take time with my children. I really enjoy driving them to school and my wife and I have a really good time. I don’t want to lose any of that,” Clooney said.
