AMADOU BA DENOUNCES VIOLENCE AND CALLS FOR PEACE

As the campaign for the early legislative elections reaches its peak, Amadou Ba, President of the Jamm ak Njariñ Coalition, took the floor to denounce the verbal and physical violence which has marked the electoral climate in recent days. In a solemn declaration, he strongly condemned these “unacceptable scenes of violence” which threaten the peace and stability of Senegal.

Amadou Ba launched a direct appeal to the authorities, in particular to the President of the Republic, urging them to put in place all the necessary measures to ensure the safety of every citizen, without distinction. “Protecting our lives and our freedom of expression must be an absolute priority,” he said, emphasizing the importance of preserving the tranquility and security of the Senegalese, particularly in this sensitive electoral period.

Addressing political actors, Amadou Ba called for individual and collective responsibility, pleading for democratic expression imbued with respect and dignity. “It is our responsibility to defend our ideas with elegance and to forever ban physical confrontations in the political space,” he stressed. For Amadou Ba, the electoral campaign must remain a time for the exchange of ideas and concrete proposals for the well-being of citizens.

The president of the Jamm ak Njariñ Coalition also recalled the recent traumas experienced by the country and the need to break with any cycle of violence. The Senegalese, according to him, expect solutions to current socio-economic challenges, rather than demonstrations of force which further divide. “This campaign must end in peace, serenity and mutual respect, in order to allow each citizen to freely express their opinion and participate fully in this democratic moment in complete security and transparency,” he concluded .
