Alytus archer Utena won 2 medals in the cup

February 10 more than 70 Lithuanian archers gathered to test their strength in the “Utena Cup 2024”. The athletes competed in 6 groups, where they fought for the unique trophies prepared by the Utena Archery Club and Lithuanian rating points. In this competition, Alytus was represented by 5 representatives of “Green Arch” – Paulina Ramanauskaitė, Inga Timinskienė, Rolandas Baranauskas, Emilis Tamulionis and Ugnius Timinskas.

Paulina Ramanauskaite, who started in the women’s group of the Olympic hoops, was the best in this competition. Having secured the leading position in the qualifying competition, the team from Alytis decidedly traveled to the finals in the playoffs as well. In the semifinals, P. Ramanauskaitė left no chance to Arly Melania Lobikova from Vilnius (6:0), and in the fight for the gold, she crushed Laima Kačonienė, another representative of Vilnius (6:0).

Three more representatives of the “Green Arch” competed in the joint group of men’s and women’s hoops. In the qualifying competition, U. Timinskas was third, I. Timinskienė took 4th place, R. Baranauskas 5th. After defeating their competitors in the round of 16, the representatives of Alytus confidently advanced to the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, U. Timinskas and R. Baranauskas ended their performance here, and only I. Timinskienė made it to the top four. The latter met Jonas Grigaravičius, a young archery talent from Ute, in the semi-finals and had to admit his superiority here. In the small final, after a tense fight, Inga Timinskienė defeated Mariės Junokas from Vilnius (145:141) and was happy with the bronze medal. U. Timinskas remained fifth in the final standings, R. Baranauskas sixth.

Emilis Tamulionis, who started in the Olympic hoops men’s group, ended his performance in the quarterfinals and settled for the final 5th place.

On March 16-17, archers will gather again in Utena, where the main competition of the season will take place – the Lithuanian indoor archery championship. A large delegation of archers from Alytus is also planning to participate in these competitions.
