A surveillance camera captured the moment 11-year-old Alyssa was waiting for the school bus at a bus stop in Pensacola, Florida, when a white car came driving up next to her.
A stranger with a knife jumps out of the car. He runs towards Alyssa and tries to drag her towards the car. The young girl throws her things and fights free from the perpetrator’s grip, but not until she makes sure to leave recognizable traces on the stranger.
In an interview with NBC The 11-year-old explains that she smeared the blue mucus she was playing with on his clothes and skin.
“I knew this would make it easier for the police to find him,” Alyssa told NBC.

The police explain how, with the help of surveillance cameras taken from various shops, they were able to identify the man’s movements thanks to the easily recognizable blue mucus on his arms and clothes.
Alyssa escaped the attacker safely and thanks the TV series “Law and Order” for the tricks she used to get away, and to make the perpetrator easier to identify.
Alyssa tells the police that she had met the 30-year-old foreign perpetrator two weeks before the kidnapping attempt took place. According to the police, the 30-year-old must have approached her while she was waiting for the bus. Alyssa found it so uncomfortable that her mother accompanied her to the bus for the next couple of weeks. Tuesday, the day the kidnapping attempt took place, was the first day Alyssa went alone to the bus after the incident.
