Born in 1952 in Oakland, California, Sanders began acting on stage during his high school years between 1967 and 1970. Thus playing with the Seattle Repertory Theater company which allows young students to act on stage and learn the profession of actor. In May 1984, he left his native California to perform a show in Barkerville, British Columbia in Canada. She stayed there and moved to Vancouver after getting married in November of that year.[1]He thus obtained dual Canadian-American citizenship.
Sanders became a member of the executive board of the Union of Performing Artists of British Columbia (UBCP) in 2001 and its president in 2011. He also served as a vice president of ACTRA for seven years, from 2011 to 2018.[2]
In 2018, he auditioned to play the role of Principal Weatherbee in the series Riverdale. Eventually he was signed on to play the role of Pop Tate.[1]
