Lucia Alves, the mother of Brazilian full-back Dani Alves, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player, confirmed that “traitors” caused her son to be held in prison, and that she will remain supportive of him until the end.
The Spanish police have detained Alves since last January 20, after he was accused of sexual assault and rape of a girl in a night club in Barcelona, Spain, on December 30 of last year, while the judge rejected his request for his temporary release after several contradictory accounts made by the player before the court regarding the case.
And his mother said, through her account on the “Instagram” application: “My family is my life, I love them endlessly, I know that my son is in prison, but I love him, what only God cannot separate anyone from.”
And she continued: I know that my son annoyed people so much that traitors took him from me, but my faith in God cannot be shaken, I will remain strong.
Alves played for Barcelona from 2008-2016, then returned to the Spanish club in the 2021-2022 season, before moving to Mexico.
He has represented Brazil since 2006, winning 126 international matches and scoring eight goals.
Alves became the oldest Brazilian player to participate in the World Cup when he wore the armband of his country’s national team against Cameroon in Qatar last month.
Alves holds the record for the most championship-winning player, with 43 titles at club and national level.
