The Galician clinical committee has decided that we will spend Holy Week “almost” as we are. The only councils that change levels are Arteixo, who is getting better, and Betanzos and Abegondo who are getting worse. Arteixo and Betanzos will be at medium level from Friday and for the first time in months the Arteixo hospitality industry will be able to serve inside, with a capacity of 30%. The curfew is maintained at 10 at night, all the bars will lower the blind at 9 and Galicia will remain closed. And the data is still worrying and A Coruña continues to be the health area with the highest cumulative incidence of all those in Galicia. The Minister of Health, Julio García Comesaña, has called, above all, for caution. “Less is more,” he said.
He has announced that there will be more screenings, however, the one scheduled for Alvedro airport will have to wait, at least until after Easter.
The screening in Alvedro was an announcement from Sergas two weeks ago and for which we will still have to wait. According to the councilor, the request to Aena is encountering difficulties.
Response from Aena
Aena has warned that the draft agreement sent by the Department of Health “raises demands that exceed the competences of Aena”, so “it is not a matter of a processing schedule”. Aena has stressed that “it remains in permanent contact with the Xunta de Galicia so that, as in other communities, controls can be carried out”.
He also recalled that he already has signed agreements to coordinate the performance of these tests in other communities, such as the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, “where the tests have been carried out for months.”
Train station
At the moment there is no date for the screening at the A Coruña train station either. There is also no date for a new mass vaccination, but yes the one of the essential groups that is retaken today in the hospital of Oza.
It is planned that today they will be administered in A Coruña to the professional sectors of teachers, police and firefighters 310 doses of Astrazeneca. In Ferrol it is resumed at the Architect Marcide hospital, where 150 doses will be given.
Abegondo
Abegondo happens on Friday to be at a high level of restrictions. It will be the only council in the A Coruña area at this level, according to the councilor, along with Ortigueira and Neda, in the case of the Ferrol area. Its mayor, José Antonio Santiso, says it is a mistake and has already contacted Sergas and the management.
Santiso assures that the data from the municipality’s health center do not coincide with those of Sanidade and says that it is not taken into account that there are neighbors from other towns who go to this clinic without being registered in Abegondo.
Betanzos
The one who is not surprised by the tightening of the restrictions is the mayor of Betanzos. María Barral sings the mea culpa.
Arteixo
Y in Arteixo, the hoteliers call for prudence. The municipality is finally in the middle level, like A Coruña. Sandra Matos, spokesperson for the Arteixo hospitality industry, expresses her concern about another possible closure in the future.
Surgical activity in hospitals, for its part, said the Minister of Health, is “full” and people with rescheduled surgeries due to the pandemic are already being cited.
At a medium level of restrictions are the municipalities of Boimorto, Bergondo, Culleredo, Ponteceso, Arteixo, A Coruña, A Laracha, Betanzos, Camariñas, Laxe and Valdoviño. A level that allows in hospitality a 30% interior capacity and 50% exterior. On the three levels, the hotel business can remain open until 9:00 p.m. In private homes, by virtue of the measures in force for Holy Week, meetings of non-cohabitants are prohibited.
