In the second half, Tiburón pushed hard, although without many ideas, and Alvarado held on with the confidence of their goalkeeper Juan Manuel Lungarzo and the good work of the entire back line, to embrace a historic victory, for which they waited 27 years.
The last victory for Torito was on August 10, 1997, when the AFA declared them a 1-0 winner in a match that was suspended due to incidents with the score tied at zero. Meanwhile, the Tiburón had won the previous year, in 1996, by 2-0 on July 28.
