AltkreisBlitz: Exhibition “Star Trek • Stargate • Star Wars

BURGDORF

In the KulturWerkStadt, Poststraße 2 in Burgdorf, the VVV, the Friends of the City Museum and the City of Burgdorf are presenting the exhibition “Star Trek • Stargate • Star Wars – interlocking bricks, plastic worlds and figurines” from Saturday, August 24, 2024, to Sunday, October 6. Wolfgang Glinka and Michael Slapnicar from the Star Trek Club Hannover (STCH) are responsible for the compilation and are thus organizing an exhibition in Burgdorf for the seventh time. The Stadtsparkasse Burgdorf and the Hanover region are sponsoring the show. The following special opening times apply for the duration of the show: Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. During the exhibition, members of the Star Trek Club are present and answer visitors’ questions about the exhibition and the fan club.

The focus is on a representative selection of collectibles made up of figurines (statuettes) and interlocking bricks, whose media models can be found in legendary science fiction and fantasy films from the cinema and television sector, but also in anime (Japanese animated films), computer games and comics. Wolfgang Glinka says of his collecting activities, which he began in 2005: “I am fascinated by the diversity and beauty of the figures, which is coupled with the outstanding craftsmanship of their creators.”

From Darth Vader to Captain Phasma

Anyone familiar with the Star Wars universe will come across old acquaintances when walking through the exhibition: a 50 cm high figure of Ahsoka Tano stands next to Darth Vader in a unique steampunk armor (30 centimeters high). A collection of figures of well-known characters from the latest Star Wars films, including Rey, Finn and Captain Phasma, and from Star Wars and Stargate classics complement this area of the collection.

Also noteworthy is the complete collection of “My Little Pony” figures from Kotobukiya’s Bishojo series. This collection includes all 10 ponies and shows them both in their original form and in newly interpreted human forms, some of which were inspired by the “My Little Pony: Equestria Girls” series. Particularly noteworthy are the figures of Sunset Shimmer, Rainbow Dash and Princess Celestia. For Disney fans, there is a selection of magical figures from the Disney Showcase Collection. From Ariel to Anna and Elsa to Mulan and Tinkerbell, each figure is designed with great attention to detail.

Superheroes and alien warriors

Superheroes are also represented in the exhibition: an impressive 60 centimeter tall Superman stands next to Batman and Harley Quinn. Not to be forgotten is the Alien Xenomorph Warrior made of interlocking bricks from the XingBao company, which is also on display. Another attention-grabbing highlight is the 40 centimeter tall Silver Age Ironman and the strictly limited Taki figure (only 300 pieces worldwide) from the game “Soulcalibur II”. There are also many other interlocking brick models on display, most of which come from renowned manufacturers from all over the world.
