Before the federal-state meeting with the Chancellor, Lower Saxony’s Economics Minister Bernd Althusmann (CDU) called for nationwide uniform rules for vacationers. “We currently have a confusion of regulations that does not promote acceptance,” said Althusmann on Tuesday the NDR in Lower Saxony. A uniform regulation between the federal states is necessary.
At the same time, Althusmann did not think it made sense to overturn the controversial ban on accommodation after a few days. He suggested reviewing the effectiveness of the ban at the end of the holidays. Then a decision should be made about cancellation or continuation.
Like other federal states, Lower Saxony has been restricting the overnight stays for tourists from Corona hotspots since Saturday. As of 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, this applied to 33 regions, including Berlin, Bremen, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Munich. Lower Saxony districts such as Cloppenburg, Wesermarsch and the Grafschaft Bentheim as well as the city of Delmenhorst are also affected. However, vacationers are allowed to arrive if they can show a negative corona test that is not older than 48 hours.
