Although Not Called a Drug, Herbs for COVID-19 Still Useful

Jakarta

Indonesia is a country rich in herbal plants which are commonly used as traditional ingredients in the health sector. For example, such as turmeric, ginger, ginger etc.

But, can the ingredients of these ingredients be a medicine to treat COVID-19 infection?

Spokesperson for the Handling Task Force COVID-19 Prof. Wiku Adisasmito said that this traditional herbal concoction is not a cure for COVID-19. This herb only serves to increase the immunity of the body of people who consume it.

“So the herbal concoctions must have benefits and have indeed become traditional wisdom, for example turmeric and ginger are commonly used,” explained Prof. Wiku in a healthy talk broadcast on YouTube BNPB, Friday (16/10/2020).

“Consuming herbal ingredients only to increase body immunity, only a supplement, not a drug,” he continued.

Besides that, Prof. Wiku also said if it was a potion herbal it is consumed too much is also not very healthy. Even the effect is different in the body.

“If you consume too much it is also not healthy. And if we are sick, the effect of consuming it will not be too high,” said Prof. Wiku.
