Although giant radio telescope Arecibo has collapsed, the site is not closing | Abroad

The NSF “is not closing the Arecibo observatory,” said Astronomy Director Ralph Gaulme, without going into the future of the site. He said he was still “deeply sad” about the loss of the radio telescope “which had a bright future with numerous and impressive scientific results”.

After two cables were previously cut, the 57-year-old telescope with a diameter of 305 meters eventually collapsed.
