Alternative Routes for Fans Traveling to 1. FC Köln Home Game on September 16, 2023

Fans who would like to travel to the home game of 1. FC Köln against TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, September 16, 2023, 3:30 p.m. on line 1 of the Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) will have to go due to a construction site on the route Set Hahnenstraße to alternative routes to the RheinEnergieSTADION.

All fans who are used to traveling to and from the RheinEnergieSTADION from the city center with line 1 can expect a big change this weekend: Due to extensive construction work on the track infrastructure in the Neumarkt area to Rudolfplatz, the light rail lines 1, 7 and 9 from Saturday, September 16, 2023, separated in this section for one month. Coming from the direction of Weiden or Frechen, the tram lines 1 and 7 only go to the Rudolfplatz stop and back; coming from the direction of Bensberg or Zündorf, the trains only go to the Neumarkt stop and back again.

There are two solutions for FC fans: either they walk between Neumarkt and Rudolfplatz to get on the respective connecting trains, or they avoid the construction site and possible delays by taking alternative routes.

Weiden West, Ehrenfeld train station, Venloer Str./Gürtel and Barbarossaplatz as turnstiles

Before the game from 12.30 p.m. – three hours before kick-off – and after the game from 5.15 p.m., the KVB will use additional light rail services. The special trains run between the Weiden West and RheinEnergieSTADION stops. Fans are recommended to take the Deutsche Bahn S-Bahn to the Weiden West stop and then change to the light rail to the stadium.

For those traveling to FC home games from September 16, 2023 to October 17, 2023, the Ehrenfeld train station, which can be reached by Deutsche Bahn trains, the adjacent Venloer Str./Gürtel stop and the Barbarossaplatz stop are available Turnstiles in the direction of RheinEnergieSTADION are of great importance for all fans traveling with KVB.

From Ehrenfeld train station there is a connection to the Deutsche Bahn trains to the Müngersdorf Technologiepark stop or the tram line 13 to Aachener Straße/Gürtel and then with the tram lines 1 and 7 to the RheinEnergieSTADION stop. In addition, articulated buses are used on bus lines 141 and 143 from Ehrenfeld train station and Venloer Str./Gürtel towards Junkersdorf.

Another option for using the special trains to the RheinEnergieSTADION is at the KVB stop Barbarossaplatz (platform line 18 towards Klettenberg/Bonn) in the southern part of the city.
