Munich has opened an alternative Oktoberfest, which takes place in place of the world famous beer festival, canceled for the second year in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic, Radio Liberty reports.
On September 18, the start date of the festival, residents gathered near the center of Munich, where the celebration usually takes place, dressed in traditional costumes and bringing beer and snacks with them to celebrate.
The city is celebrating this event in other ways, although it is unlikely that it will attract millions of people like a traditional Oktoberfest.
About 50 restaurants and pubs are planning to decorate the tent-style Oktoberfest as part of the event, which runs until October 3rd.
Other pubs will feature Oktoberfest music, beer and traditional costumes. For those who cannot come, there are online events to attend the Oktoberfest.
The authorities hope that Oktoberfest will take place in 2022.
Recall that American and Chinese scientists discovered traces of beer fermentation in ceramic vessels at the Qiaotou burial in Zhejiang province in eastern China.-
