Given the continuous increases in the cost of fuel, an idea comes that could make mobility sustainable and economical.
The increase in fuel has been a real drain on the pockets of Italians in recent months.
Motorists have been forced to spend almost twice as much to get around with their car. The national government, headed by Mario Draghi, intervened several times to apply a cut on excise duties. As is well known, the final cost of fuel is heavily affected by taxes on the manufacture and sale of consumer products.
What the Draghi government did to cut excise duties
As we know, the increases in excise duties are largely due to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. To cope with this situation, the national executive led by Mario Draghi has introduced a discount on excise duties up toJuly 8, 2022.
Most likely, the measure will be extended at least until 2 August 2022. For the extension, a Ministerial Decree has already been signed by the Minister of Economy and Finance which will be published shortly in the Official Gazette. In particular, the rates applied in recent months on excise duties should be confirmed. So for petrol 478.40 euros per thousand liters, for diesel 367.40 euros per thousand liters and for LPG 182.61 euros per thousand kilograms.
A difficult situation, which probably could have been avoided if more investments had been made in the past to exploit green mobility. For sustainable mobility, according to the data presented by Protolabs, investments of approximately 330 billion dollars are expected over the next three years.
A choice that will be included in the guidelines of the European Union which, starting from 2035, will prohibit the sale of cars powered by diesel, petrol or gas.
The new fuel
The latest news in the automotive sector comes from Switzerland, where the company Synhelion has perfected the solar fuel. The novelty is to replace fossil fuels with synthetic ones. Solar fuel can be used for any type of fuel and engine. In fact, it is compatible not only with cars but also with trucks, planes and ships. Basically, the heat that is generated will turn into a fuel mixture as diesel and petrol are today. An idea that, if successful, could really change mobility in the world.
