In the second Doctor Strange-film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness we’ll probably get to see the story of Wanda Maximoff / The Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) continues. It was previously announced that Strange almost appeared in the earlier this year WandaVision and now we know how that could have happened.
Benedict Cumberbatch had already signed for his part in WandaVision, but in the end he was not called upon to focus as much as possible on Wanda and changing to the Scarlet Witch.
Ending with Doctor Strange felt strange
In conversation with Rolling Stone revealed WandaVisionwriter Jac Schaeffer what the team wanted to do with Strange. “The plan when I got on board was that there would be some sort of carryover at the end of the series and Doctor Strange’s part would come down to a brief cameo,” said Schaeffer.
“Early sketches had different versions of that the two [Wanda en Doctor Strange] ride into the sunset together. And it didn’t feel quite right,” according to the writer who ultimately did not see Strange’s cameo go through.
“Another problem was that if Doctor Strange didn’t show up until the end, where was he all the time? I loved writing different possibilities with Doctor Strange,” Schaeffer added. “There were versions where she flies past the city limits and encounters Doctor Strange, that sort of thing.”
