In the early evening of February 12, in a bar in Bonneval, a violent altercation took place between two brothers and two other men, seated quietly with members of their family.
Reportedly, the two brothers were sitting at the bar around 7:45 p.m. They were visibly alcoholic, having each absorbed four coke whiskeys.
A group comes to sit down in the bar. The younger of the two brothers, aged 27, recognizes, in the group, a man with whom he had a fight ten years ago for a story that involved his girlfriend.
“When I saw him, I saw red”, explains the attacker before the court of Chartres. “It’s true that I was upset. I wanted explanations. “According to the elements declined at the hearing, he goes to the table where was the one he considered his opponent. Very quickly, a violent altercation takes place between the two men, who end up on the ground.
One of the attacker’s friends comes to his aid, throwing himself on the attacker. It was then that the eldest of the two brothers, aged 34, also decided to intervene.
The scene is very fast. He would have struck with a broken glass. One of the men has a deep gash in the cheek, the other has the tendons of a severed wrist. The intervention of the bar owner and the waitress puts an end to the fight, but the two victims are seriously injured.

“I think the glass broke”
All witnesses have the same version of the scene. According to them, the two brothers are indeed the attackers. At the court of Chartres, during the trial, the younger of the two brothers recognizes the violence.
Without apologizing, he explains that at the sight of the other man, “everything came back to me all of a sudden. However, I had not seen him for ten years.
His older brother admits to having come to his rescue. On the other hand, he denies having wanted to hurt the two victims: “I had a glass in my hand. I think it broke when we fell, and they hurt themselves with it. »
An explanation in total contradiction with the testimony of the waitress: “He broke the glass and hit one of the victims in the direction of the throat. I thought he was going to cut her throat. »
The public prosecutor, for her part, regrets “their behavior and their positioning during the hearing”, which makes Me Steve Ruben, of the Paris bar, react.
“In front of the court, you have to play a role, and roll on the ground to show how much you are suffering,” he quips.
As for Mr. Vincent Rivierre, who defends the victims, he assures that it is “a case that is cold in the back.” The consequences could have been extremely serious and they could have ended up in an assize court ”.
The brothers were each sentenced to ten months in prison, suspended probation.
