Sky News Arabia correspondent reported that clashes broke out in the Lions’ Gate area when the Israeli police prevented ambulance crews from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque, indicating that more than 80 people were injured, including serious injuries, during the police attempt to remove the believers from the mosque’s courtyards.
Video clips showed the Israeli police storming the Al-Qibli prayer hall in Al-Aqsa Mosque, beating the worshipers, and arresting a number of them.
A Reuters correspondent quoted witnesses as saying that hundreds of worshipers answered an invitation from the national and Islamic forces and factions to perform i’tikaaf in the mosque to counter calls from Jewish groups to storm the mosque on Wednesday on the occasion of the Jewish holidays..
