Altair Jarabo, the divine actress – Moroccan ladies

Sensitive, committed, beautiful and intelligent, the Mexican actress Altair Jarabo, visiting Morocco as part of the promotion of this destination, talks to us openly about our country, her career, her commitment and her projects. In all sincerity.

What are the cities and places that you liked the most during your stay in Morocco? What were the strongest and most beautiful moments of this trip?
All the cities were memorable. I particularly liked Tangier. I find it to be a cosmopolitan, multicultural and inclusive city. This may be because this is where the Mediterranean and the Atlantic meet. This city has its own personality and that really surprised me.

What does this 15-day trip to several Moroccan cities inspire you?
I had the opportunity to visit Marrakech some time ago. I loved this city and wanted to know more about Morocco. When I returned to Mexico, I realized that we had so much in common. Even though the religion is different the spirituality is the same, and the people of both countries are family oriented. I think we share so many values, and that’s why I want to develop a co-production between Mexico and Morocco. I’m currently looking for different ideas and stories to make an interesting telenovela or series.

So that would be the main goal of your trip …
It is a very special trip. Moreover, I am very grateful to the Moroccan National Tourist Office and to the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs who were more than generous and helpful in the realization of this educational tour which allowed me to meet key people. for my plans on this trip.

If the opportunity is offered to you again, would you come back to Morocco? Will you encourage your followers to visit our country?
Of course. I think Morocco has so much to offer because every city is different, and the empowerment of women here is very surprising, it’s amazing. These are things I like to talk about. So I will certainly encourage my friends and followers to visit your beautiful country. It is a must!

Do you think it is easy to travel during this pandemic?
This is unfortunately not the case. I was nevertheless pleasantly surprised that the vaccination campaign had progressed very quickly in Morocco compared to other countries, which we should be particularly proud of. Maybe in the next few months it will be easier for people to travel here because it is always a good idea to come to Morocco.

You are a celebrity of the small screen and Mexican telenovas. Was it easy for you to break through and make yourself known?
It was difficult at first as it is with every career and in any industry. There is always a lot of competition. My only advice is to stay true to yourself and not try hard to meet other people’s expectations because it’s impossible to please everyone. So work very hard and learn to be a good team member, because ultimately teamwork is the most important.

What was the telenova that made you famous?
I think it was one of my first, a comedy called “Al diablo con Los guapos” in which I play the role of a rich girl, who falls in love with her driver. It was a very funny scenario and I worked with my best friends so we laughed the whole time even though we had really long shifts. Eventually, this energy transcended screens and met with great success.

Your character “Olga” in the Telenovela “Vencer el desamor” marked the spirits, and it was the occasion for you to speak about feminicide in the interviews which you granted to the media. What could you tell us about this violence against women?
I’ve played several characters who suffer from all kinds of things, but this one, in particular, was the victim of femicide, and it was the first time I felt extremely sad while reading the script. I kept asking my colleagues what they thought about it, and it was sad to play it. Being the victim of feminicide is the worst thing a woman can go through and unfortunately it happens too often.

Which character would you like to play in the future?
I recently came across the biography of Austrian-born American actress Hedy Lamarr. Not only this woman was amazingly beautiful, but she was also brilliant because she had a career as an inventor in the telecommunications industry. She managed to escape a violent marriage and came to the United States and then to Mexico. Her beauty and intelligence are very inspiring, and I would love to tell her story one day.

You are an ambassador of the “Igualando Oportunidades” program for the promotion of gender equality. What does it consist of? And what are you doing at your level to promote gender equality?
I think real independence starts in the portfolio. In other words, it’s easier to escape violence if you have the means and aren’t 100% dependent on someone.
I also promote the education of girls as some Mexican families tend to prioritize the education of the boy given that there is this subconscious belief that the girl would get married and could be taken care of by the husband. To achieve gender equality, the girl must focus on her studies, have financial independence and achieve her own dreams, there is no better scenario.

What is your ideal in life?
For the moment, I aspire to find the right balance between my decisions. Because sometimes we want to be successful in our jobs and be the best wife, best friend and best lover, but the sad part is that sometimes we have to choose and make sacrifices to achieve any of these goals. So making the right decision is a difficult thing (laughs).

How do you deal with your celebrity on a daily basis?
I think you have to tolerate a certain degree of disapproval and accept that you don’t like everyone. Additionally, humans are used to paying attention to bad comments and reviews when it should be the other way around. So I made the decision a long time ago to only focus on the positive reviews on my posts.

Tell us about a typical day in the life of Altair Jarabo?
First of all, and this is what is wonderful about my job, is that no day is the same. Each project is different, each action is separate. But when I’m not working, I like to get away from it all and travel. In Mexico I have a horse and two dogs, my parents live in a house near Mexico City in the woods and I visit them often. I sometimes go to the beautiful Ixtapa beach, but most of all, I read a lot, and I follow the latest TV and film productions.

You are a very beautiful young woman. What is your daily beauty routine?
I like to use as little makeup as possible, and for that I need to take good care of my skin. For example, the sun damages my skin, so I gave up tanning completely forever (laughs). I try to keep my skin clean and stay out of the sun as much as possible.

You are so often admired for the natural, authentic photos you post. Is it important for you to display reality with unretouched images?
I honestly think that’s how women should feel. Sure, I admire thin and tall women, but I accepted a long time ago that I’m not like that (laughs). Of course, you can make slight changes to your appearance, but there are some things that you have to accept and love. And it’s my responsibility to get this message across.

If you weren’t an actress, what would you have liked to be?
Although I am very grateful for my work, I was interested in many other things before, like medicine or diplomacy. Believe it or not, I love this world! Maybe in another life or maybe in the future. For now, I think this career has adopted me and I have adapted to it afterwards.
