Alta, Traffic | Man trapped after hit-and-run accident: Sent to hospital

The extent of the damage to the person who was trapped is unknown, but he has been sent to hospital in a rescue helicopter, the police report.

There are two men in their 60s and 30s respectively who are involved. It is the latter, who was the driver of the lorry, who has been sent to hospital, operations manager Einride Hals can tell iFinnmark.

The accident must have happened on the E6 north of Leirbotnvatn in Alta. One lane is open to traffic.

– How is the other person involved?

– We have not received any feedback that he needs health care.

Hals states that they were notified of the accident via AMK. The accident must have happened around 03.45 today at the latest.

– Is there major material damage to the vehicles?

– There must be some damage to the truck. The latest message is that a tow truck has arrived at the site now, and will have it removed.

– What are the weather and road conditions like at the location?

– I have not received feedback that there will be particularly demanding driving conditions, but I cannot say that with 100 percent certainty.

Hals cannot say anything more about the degree of injury to the person who was trapped.

The police estimate that it may take 1-2 hours before the road is 100 per cent open to traffic again, they report at 06.40. Cones will be set out and Viking will flash yellow warning lights at the site.

The police have started an investigation into the accident at the scene.
