Alstom will supply 13 additional Regiolis-type trains to the Occitanie region for an amount of around 80 million euros, the group announced on Wednesday in a press release.
13 additional trains for an amount of 80 million euros. Occitania thus brings to 46 oars its order for these Regiolis (or Coradia Polyvalent) trains which have been circulating in the region since 2014, representing an overall investment of more than 330 million euroswelcomed Alstom.
The region has actually ordered eight electric trains and five dual-mode trains (diesel-electric), with four cars each, in a “comfortable suburban” version with more doors to better manage the flow of passengers. The Alstom site at Tarbes will supply the traction equipment for these regional trains.
“The arrival of these new Régiolis trains is an important step in enabling us to achieve the development of the rail offer expected by the Occitanie region.“, commented Jacques Rascol, director of SNCF Mobilités Occitanie, quoted in the press release.
Regional president Carole Delga announced the order in November, adding that she would add three hydrogen-powered trainsets, a version that Alstom is adapting to the French market after having developed it in Germany. The order for these three trains should come later, with other regions, according to Alstom.
To date, 312 trains have been ordered under the framework contract for a thousand trains awarded to Alstom by SNCF Mobilités – on behalf of the regions – in October 2009, including 251 Coradia Polyvalent and 61 Coradia Liner, a model intended in outline.
