Also many carnival parades canceled on Sunday due to bad weather NOW

Due to the bad weather and the strong wind, more than seventy carnival parades in Noord-Brabant and Limburg were canceled on Sunday. Parades in other parts of the country were canceled on Saturday.

In almost the entire country, the KNMI has issued a yellow code for strong gusts of wind and especially in the southern provinces it can blow hard, with gusts of 75 to 90 kilometers per hour. To guarantee the safety of visitors, most parades are therefore canceled or moved to Monday, Tuesday or March 22, the date of the half-fast.

Some parades also start a bit later, because the wind will decrease in the evening. However, it continues to rain heavily, in the southern half of the country more than 25 millimeters of water can fall during the day.

During the parades, large floats often ride along, which are susceptible to strong winds. It was already decided on Friday that the carnival parade in Eindhoven will not take place because the wind could blow the wagons over. Instead, a smaller parade was held through the city, led by a mop orchestra.

The weather not only causes North Brabant and Limburg to disrupt the carnival pleasure. The parade in Oldenzaal – the largest above the large rivers – was also canceled on Sunday morning. About 100,000 people usually come to that.
