Football agent Didier Frenay was also arrested by Belgian researchers on Monday. Frenay was involved with Patrick De Koster, who was previously taken into custody, in the transfer of Red Devil Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea to Wolfsburg in 2014.

The investigators from Belgium reported to Frenay, who resides in Monaco, on Monday morning at 9.30 am. He was then taken for questioning. The news was confirmed by Sven Mary, Frenay’s attorney. “Investigators raided Monaco this morning, and also Luxembourg (where StarFactory, Frenay’s agency is located, ed.). As we have already communicated to the investigating judge in recent weeks, Mr Frenay will cooperate fully with the judicial investigation ”, it sounds.
The raid is part of the investigation that the Brussels investigating judge Michel Claise has started in response to the complaint that Kevin De Bruyne filed against his broker Patrick De Koster. Central to the story is the transfer that De Bruyne made from Chelsea to Wolfsburg in 2014. The transfer, which finally put De Bruyne’s career on track, could have involved irregular payments via Liechtenstein. On the transfer amount of 23 million euros, 2.3 million euros in commission amounts would have been paid.
Frenay would have received part of the cake
The question the investigators want answered is who received the money and whether taxes were paid on it. Patrick De Koster was entitled to a commission as a broker from De Bruyne. But Didier Frenay, who as a broker had the contacts in Germany, would also have received part of the sum.
De Koster was also arrested for questioning at the end of August and then arrested. He spent several weeks in jail. Only last week was he allowed to leave prison with an ankle bracelet. He is charged with money laundering, forgery and the use of false documents.
It remains to be seen whether there will be an international arrest warrant for Frenay. After all, Monaco does not deliver for tax fraud.
