Alsatians in the spotlight in the 2020 Marianne d’Or class

Civic competition of the Republic, as it likes to define itself, the list of “Marianne d’Or” offers a “roll of honor” of political commitment on a daily basis and in proximity. The aim is to reward “effective and original” actions that have been taken to deal with the pandemic. The first wave of the coronavirus particularly affected the Grand Est and much more Alsace. “The first battle was played out in the hospitals of the Grand Est”

The 2020 Marianne d’Or class also emphasizes the mobilization of caregivers. “Marianne d’or de la Santé et de la Solidarité” were awarded to the management teams of a large number of hospitals in the region. Because they “faced the shock of large-scale contagion”, because “it was in the corridors and treatment rooms of hospitals in the Grand Est region that the first battle was played out”. Thus, Christophe Gautier, then Director General of the University Hospitals of Strasbourg, Corinne Krencker, Director of the Mulhouse-Sud Alsace Regional Hospital Group, Christine Fiat, Director of the Civil Hospitals of Colmar, were rewarded. To the list, we must add the directors of the hospitals of Metz, Nancy, Reims and Troyes.

If the Marianne d’Or have also distinguished national institutions this year (in particular the Gendarmerie), many local elected officials have been honored. Among them is Hervé Féron, the mayor of Tomblaine, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. During the pandemic, this elected official and his municipal teams carried out “a series of all-out actions against the pandemic”. The link with the population was maintained thanks to a daily magazine on the Net. A drive-in and concerts under the windows boosted the morale of the inhabitants.
