[스포츠서울 | 정하은 기자] The members went back to the beginning for a new album that will show that the band CNBLUE is alive and well and that it still has infinite potential. The colorful melody line was abandoned and Jung Yong-hwa’s unique husky and sweet vocals were added to the music filled with guitar, bass, and drums.

Jung Yong-hwa, who said he thought a lot about the direction of the music, said, “We had a lot of worries about what kind of music we should make during the band boom,” and added, “We agreed that it would be good to make original music that highlights the sounds of realistic instruments.”

CNBLUE is back with the release of their 10th mini album ‘X’. This album is CNBLUE’s first new album in three years since their 9th mini album ‘Wanted’ released in 2021.

Kang Min-hyuk said, “It’s a refreshing feeling that it’s already been 10 years since we released our 10th album. “It’s been a long time since I made a comeback, so as always, I prepared with all my might,” he said. Jung Yong-hwa said, “I think the number ‘10’ has a lot of meaning. “I was more cautious,” he added.

Regarding the reason why it took 3 years, Lee Jung-shin said, “As a band that makes popular music, we have to make songs that can be loved by the public, and we have a desire to show that we have continued to grow as we have released 10 albums, so it is late. “I lost,” he explained.

‘X’ has various meanings, such as the 10th mini album, 10 times growth, and an infinite future. Even now, 15 years after their debut, CNBLUE’s strong will to continue making endless musical attempts and challenges is evident. The album contains a total of 6 songs, including the title song, and all songs are self-composed by the members.

The title song, ‘Is it you that I miss, or is it back then’, written and composed by Jung Yong-hwa, is a medium-tempo rock genre song with an impressive introduction with a unique whistle sound. It depicts a situation where the memories of an ex-lover cannot leave the mind, and the recurring memories and longing still linger. I quoted poet Ha Sang-wook’s phrase, ‘Is it you or is it that time that I miss?’

Lastly, regarding the meaning of this album, the members agreed that it is a new beginning. Lee Jung-shin emphasized, “This is an album that is like a culmination of the know-how and new challenges we have accumulated while working with CNBLUE so far,” and expressed confidence, “It will be a meaningful album in that it shows that CNBLUE can continue to grow further in the future.” .

Jung Yong-hwa defined “the 10th album as a new beginning to reach the 20th album,” and said, “It is a step to take again and means to run hard again.” Kang Min-hyuk also said, “This is an album that contains infinite possibilities that reflects our years and experience in the music we have made so far.” He added, “The number 10 is huge and it seems like we have built up a lot, but since it is an album released in the prime of our 30s, it seems to have a greater meaning of beginning. “He said. jayee212@sportsseoul.com
