Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The implementation of the transitional PSBB in DKI Jakarta, which made the provisions looser for the restaurant business, such as the lifting of the dine-in ban, did not directly affect the attitude of all restaurant entrepreneurs.
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in the Restaurant Sector, Emil Arifin, admitted that currently many restaurant entrepreneurs prefer not to open their business first. In fact, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan has allowed the public to dine-in or eat at a restaurant.
This wait and see attitude is taken because they are reluctant to take risks if at any time the conditions change again. Among them due to government inconsistency.
“About 40% are still waiting. Some have opened but some are still seeing the situation. For example, there are 15 outlets, 8 of which are opened. The others will be later,” Emil explained to CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (14/10).
In addition to monitoring the policies taken by the government, entrepreneurs also continue to monitor the social situation in the community that has occurred recently. Among them were demonstrations which continued for several days. It is undeniable that this is one of the reasons restaurateurs prefer not to rush back into operations.
“Even though it was opened for dine-in (eating at the place) yesterday it was still quiet. People still wait and see, watch and wait for the demo to finish. There is something like that. Businessmen worry that the transmission will be higher. So people are waiting for the demo to finish and then open it, “he explained.
Even if the demo issue will be resolved, there are other things to be resolved. Namely about increasing people’s confidence to go back outside the house and eat at restaurants. Moreover, currently there is a new rule where visitors must submit their personal data and telephone number. Emil felt that many were reluctant.
“The format has been issued, so we write a manual. For that PHRI is making a contact tracing application, so it is not manual. But the QR code system. Hopefully this application will be submitted to the government later,” said Emil.
