Already 10 goals behind at the break: a strong second half wasn’t enough against Helmlingen

Steißlingen. Despite catching up in the second half, the Steißlingen Women 2 were unable to turn their game around and had to admit defeat on Sunday away to TuS Helmlingen with 25:21 (16:6).

The hosts got off to a better start in the game. A little nervous and full of respect, the TuS found it difficult to get into the encounter. Both in defense and in their own attack they lacked the necessary access and made a lot of mistakes in the early stages against a strong home team. This allowed the Helmlingen women, who were established in the league, to gradually pull away and go into halftime with a big lead of 16:6.
After the break the motto was clear: they wanted to present themselves better and bring the otherwise good handball to the floor. Little by little, the team led by coach Claus Ammann found their way into the game better and gained the necessary self-confidence to pose challenges to their strong opponents. They showed their morale and fought their way back goal by goal.

In the end, however, the burden from the first round was too high and they had to admit defeat 25:21.
The aim now is to continue to build on the team’s strengths during the training week so that they can get back to their full potential in the home game against SG Gutach/Wolfach on October 6th.

They played: Eva Streit, Katharina Franz (both Tor), Sarina Müller (5), Laura Fischer (4), Romy Auer (3), Marie Knobelspies (3), Rebecca Maier (3), Anna Hoffmann (1), Anne Riedle (1 ), Lena Zeininger (1), Xenia Lehn, Lara Mohrlok, Isabella Scherer, Lena Schoch.
