Alpine tenth manufacturer to commit to the future of endurance racing

It has been in the air since the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is now official: Alpine is the tenth manufacturer to confirm its commitment to the future of endurance. Already present since this year with a fake Hypercar (an unbridled Oreca Rebellion LMP1) with which the French won a podium at Le Mans last August, Alpine will join Acura, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Peugeot, Toyota, Glickenhaus, Cadillac and Porsche from 2024 with its own real Hypercar. The future of the WEC is already the dream of all fans of the discipline.

“Endurance is an ideal complement to F1,” told us a month ago in an interview with Le Mans Laurent Rossi, the new boss of Alpine. “Le Mans is the biggest race in the world. Its reputation is worldwide. The WEC audience is made up of enthusiasts, people drawn to our cars.”

Engaged in F1 until at least 2022, Fernando Alonso, double winner of Le Mans and world endurance champion, could then share his experience in the discipline with the brand.

Manufacturers must choose today between the Hypercar regulations by building their own chassis or the LMdh with already existing chassis generally entrusted to already existing structures such as Penske (Porsche), AF Corse (Ferrari) or undoubtedly WRT for Audi. The ACO will ensure a balance between the two categories.
