Alphapo Cryptocurrency Payment Provider Loses $23 Million to Unknown Hackers

Unknown people withdrew digital assets worth more than $23 million from the hot wallets of cryptocurrency payment provider Alphapo, according to on-chain researcher ZachXBT.

The losses of the project were assets in the Ethereum, Tron networks and an unconfirmed amount in bitcoin.

On Ethereum, the attackers exchanged all tokens for ETH and sent them to the Avalanche bridge.

One of Alphapo’s clients, HypeDrop, has suspended withdrawals. The details of the incident are still unknown.

The Cyvers Alerts service team suggested a leak of private keys. The analytical platform recorded a total of seven transactions to the attackers’ address for a total amount of over $100 million.

Recall that in the first half of 2023, the crypto industry faced 395 hacks, losing about $479.4 million as a result.
